hi. anyone know if this is possible? vaillant tech advice are not very helpful. I know that it is meant to be used with a system boiler, but surely a combi can be used as a system boiler? ie it's a system boiler plus a hot water system as well? couldn't a combi be used as a system boiler ?

already have a ecotec plus 824 with the ebus vrc400 control which i want to continue using if possible as it modulates the boiler temperature according to the outside temperature.

want to use the vr65 (which is also ebus control) to control a couple of 2 port valves to run a second circuit in an S-Plan style. This is what it's designed for. Can't my combi boiler be controlled by it?

I am hoping that someone has tried it before.

This won't work as the VR 65 needs to control everything and won't 'understand' the HW demand from a combi.

ok. do you mean that when i turn on the hot tap, the combi will move the diverter valve, or send a signal to the vr65 that will cause it go into an error state?

The combi will obviously control the DV, but the VR65 will be trying to control system water temp.

The end result will be that you will get an error code on the boiler display and it will lock out.

The best thing you can do is forget the VR65 and wire the combi/system up as a standard 'Y' or 'S' plan.

and do away with the weather compensator? i am coming to the conclusion that there is no other way...

anyone want to buy a vrc 400 ?!?

Up until recently all Vaillant controls could only be used for one heating zone and a HW zone, not multiple heating zones.

I'll give you a tenner for the VRC400 ;)

BTW I just sold my VRT360f for 65 pounds, I payed the heating engineer 62 for it.

Sorry for the hijack but have things now changed re the vaillant controls? (specifically interested in vrc430, vr65 with 6xx system boiler and unistor) . Are they now able to control more than one heating zone?

regards

jeff

VRC400 has been superceeded by VRC430 nearly a year back, so I can't see anyone wanting it.

I've got one in my van too.

Nothing has changed regarding multi zone control, the VR61 should not be used with the domestic ecoTEC range and is not supported for this application by Vaillant UK.

I got this wrong then Simon, I thought the VR61 now made multiple zones possible on domestic installations

Thanks ;)

Hi. New to this forum, expect I may be a little late on this thread; if nothing comes back, I'll start a new one.

I'm about to have a new central heating system installed (parts of the old one go back to 1926...no kid).

Would really like to install Vaillant as previous 20 years plus user experience, no real problems. Can't believe situation re. lack of compatibility with multi zone and weather compensation. Both of these requirements could/should be mandatory on large(ish) domestic installations. Don't really need to go commercial route and VR61 apparently not applicable to Ecotec Plus system boilers.

Can any of you guys (still around) advise a suitable multi zone/weather compensated/ (ideally) modulated solution.

p.s. Why can't we have Honeywell Prestige etc in the UK?

surely you can wire each zone via stat, zone valve and then make the C/Heating work for any zone by wiring the orange wires back to the boiler
terminal 4?

why would weather compensation make any difference?

VR61 will work with domestic ecotecs. available now if you have a good supplier. Use with a 600 series and vaillant cylinder to work properly.
