Hi there all,

I have a Vaillant Turbomax 824e about 10-12 yrs old and my problem is as follows ....

I had a new pump fitted by a plumber after i got home from 2 week hols and found my heating wouldnt start... Sadly this didnt sort it, as soon as it came back on it would reach temp and shut off within say 1 min or so even though radiators were still cold.. Then start up and keep going on - off - on - off... The flow pipe get really hot below the boiler but the return doesnt...The hot water works fine by the way...
He then phoned valiant and they asked if the bypass was open? He then went and fitted a new one of those too...
Still no joy....
He then cut the flow & return pipes and connected a coil of plastic pipe to the boiler... But still the boiler shuts off quickly... Though this time the return gets hot as well as the flow...
He told me that this indicates that there is a blockage in the pipe work?!?!

Any ideas guys... I'm getting desperate now ???

Thanks

Sam

I forgot to add that he also closed of all rads and the valves below boiler and connected two hoses to the drain off points in the kitchen and left the rad open in the bathroom upstairs...
He then connected one hose to my outside tap and the other in the drain...

Nothing but cleanish water came out?...

Does this mean the pipe work is clear???

Sorry forgot to add initially...

Change the divertor valve! Known fault :D 252457 part number don't bother with technical just call centre kids with books!

Thanks Bunnyman,

If you are sure I will tell him to do that then...

He did say he was wondering about diverter valve as the flow pipe was getting warm when hot tap was running... But why does the bypass open even though new??? I presume it is meant to?? Do I need to get him to fit new one again???
I'm just nervous as theses parts costs are mounting up... Not to mention his time...

Get a specialist then or ring Vaillant for a fixed price repair £250 I think including all parts an lablour

I come, diagnose, fit new diverter, charge about £196 and leave and all within the hour.

In my opinion you should not be paying for his time when he is incompetent and for parts which are not needed to effect the repair.

But I suppose that I am biased.
