I have the Astra SRI on a 2001 plate, eveything is workin fine but my girlfriend sometimes complaining it feels like its going to stall, by this she means the idle speed is hunting and the lights dim then return to full brightness. I usually stick some VPower in and she's happy again. The car has done 92k miles now and wonder if there is anything I should do other then service it. Its been serviced every 10k - 12k miles and had a cam belt change at 80k I think. Is it worth replacing the battery, is there anything I can use to give the engine a good clean out?

Changing the battery will have no effect at all.
Give the car a good 10 mins at 70 mph, this should help clean any rubbish out.
Get the idle speed checked out.

Very common problem on these, you need to give the throttle body a clean.
Get a can of carb cleaner, and an old toothbrush.
Remove the engine cover and you'll see a black tube that goes from the air filter onto the throttle body, loosen the jubilee clip, then open the throttle to max, spray some carb cleaner in and get in with the toothbrush, clean it up as much as possible.
Dont worry if it doesnt start too east after or smoke a little for the first few seconds, its just the excess carb cleaner getting burnt :)
