My son has an L reg 1600 Cavalier. It is petrol and has the single point Multec injector system. A few months ago it developed a fault. The problem nearly always occurs when the engine is hot. When pulling away from stationary the engine dies for a second, loosing power after which it picks up and runs ok. It's a bit like a flat-spot in a carb system. If you raise the revs quite high the effect is reduced.
Plugs, HT leads and distributor cap have all been changed, air and vacuum hoses all appear to be in good order and the EGR valve diaphram raises and lowers with revs. MPG is still good as it always is with this model and it otherwise runs ok.
We put it into a local Vauxhall dealer a year ago when it first started but the problem just vanished so they drew a blank. It has just reared its head again. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
