The Engine management light comes on from time to time and the engine appears to loose power. The mass Air flow meter has been replaced but this does not appear to have solved the problem, any ideas?
My girlfriend had similar problems with her 1.0 12v Corsa on a "T" plate. You may need to replace the air idle stepper motor and/or Lambda sensor. The engine management may also have to be reset after this work. I am sure someone with a bit of knowledge can explain further.
If the engine management light has illuminated then hopefully there will be a diagnostic trouble code written into the ECU. This can be accessed by Mr Vauxhall computer or by switching your ignition off, on the OBD socket below the steering wheel (looks similar to a scart socket) short pin 6 to chassis ground. Switch on the ignition and count the groups of flashes on the MIL light on the dash. Shout these out and I'll have a look.
It appears inly Mr Vauxhall can clear these form the meory
if a 1.0 litre it is highly likely that it is Idle Speed Control valve, when I worked at a Vauxhall dealer here in N Ireland, I replaced more of these than I care to mention.
Other possibilities are, O2 sensor, crankshaft sensor, egr valve.
Best get a Tech 2 test done at your friendly Vaux dealer and see what fault codes are stored
Hi, my first time on a forum but after searching for help on this topic and managing to fix it I thought I may be able to help someone somewhere.
My daughters vauxhall corsa 1.2 16V R reg had the maintenance light coming on every time she went above 60mph and the car was pulling and losing power. The warning said it was the O2 sensor. It wasn't! Had one fitted and didn't cure it. It turned out to be the air flow mass sensor (£25 form auction site NEW & it just clipped on easily). We have had no problems since!!!!! Hope this helps someone.
