Hi,
I have a hipped roof with an 'open' loft.
There are vertical hangers of approx 1m between each rafter and joist, otherwise no purlins/struts/etc.
If cutting a single rafter to install a velux, I know the rafters on either side need to be doubled with double trimmers fitted top and bottom.
Assuming the bottom trimmer is higher than the hanger on the cut rafter, is anything more required?
Not likely to do this myself but wondering how I should expect it to be done before applying for the building warrant.
Thanks in advance,
Alex
