Hi,
We stay in an old house. we had some new windows installed in our bedroom and had asked for vents. When they installed they had no vents.
We pointed this out and someone came along promptly and retrofitted vents.

In terms of performance will this be equal?

Aesthetically it isn’t so good as have just drilled holes but you wouldn’t notice them day to day.

Thanks for any advice.

Performance wise, the vents have destroyed the thermal performance of the frame in the same way that a factory fitted vent would.

Most people come on here moaning that they have been forced to fit window vents and asking how to seal them up.

Yours is the first post that I have noticed where they were actually wanted.

A ventilated house is a healthy house. There isn't some weird conspiracy to make you have vents for no reason guys. It's blooming obvious, you fit a well built and well sealed window and chances are it will reduce the airflow through the property, that's not always healthy.
