Vent pipe?

Hello,
My friend moved into a new build house six months ago. He has a Potterton powermax HE floor standing system, which is sealed.

On an outside wall he has a 28mm turned down pipe with a cover over it, which looks like it could be a vent pipe. Recently this has started to drip water (a drip every second).

He's wondering why this has started dripping, and if it's a sealed system why there is actually a vent pipe.

Any ideas?

This is the prv outlet pipe. Should not be dripping. Check filling loop has not been left slightly open so pressure has increased to over 3 bar. Pressure should be around 1-1.2 bar cold.

If this is not the problem call manufacturers in as these are a specialised boiler. As it is new build, builders customer care should do this for him

I had a look at the pressure, and it's at 2 - 2.5 hot. Not sure about when it's cold as he had his heating on. Would the filling loop be inside the unit? I haven't had the front off to take a look as yet.

He was going to call the building firm, but was just wondering if it was something minor he could sort out himself.

Incidentaly what is a PRV outlet pipe? Is it like an overflow?

Very much like, its a discharge pipe for the pressure release valve, in 28mm because of the length of pipe run. Like the 15mm on a combi, ect.
