I'm blocking off a fireplace and want to vent it. I can either install this type of vent or this type, the former being adjustable (open/close) and the latter essentially open all the time.
The property will be rented out i.e. I'm not living there. I have visions of the tenant simply leaving an adjustable vent closed all the time e.g. if they hate the slightest bit of cold/breeze, so I'm more inclined to install a vent that's always open to ensure adequate airflow through the flue.
