HI
I just lifted some floor in a C1900 house to measure up for wet 'underfloor heating and a gale is roaring through. Kitchen floor with T+G boards and under a cellar (with lathe +plaster ceiling) that has been tanked (with large bubble sheet). Looked outside and there appears to be a newish vent brick. I would expect there to be one for the other rooms with just 2' void beneath, why is it needed for an 'internal' floor space. No wonder the floor is always cold.
Is this ventilation for the tanking system?
Can I still fit UFH which would require insulation and draftproofing (or all the heat will just blow out the vent!
Any help appreciated.
