Hi there, I have I ventilation grill on the ceiling of the landing at the top of the stairs which drips water back onto the stairs (pls see picture of landing ventilation grill). The grill leads directly into the loft, where there is a pipe.
I have the details of the size/pitch of this pipe somewhere (I will have to dig out the details again and post them here too), but from memory the pipe rises vertically for about 30cm or so, then this goes to an elbow which rises gently vertically out towards the eaves of the loft.
I am not surprised that I am getting water drips into the vent from this arrangement, given that the air rising into the vent will cool and its moisture condense, but does anyone have any advice on how this ventilation should be done, and whether the vent is absolutely necessary in the first place? By way of background info, the house was built approx 1985, is (now) double glazed, and has a gas boiler. thank you![/img]
