Hi,
I'm having all the roof slates replaced next week, the old rag slates are too far gone to do an economical repair. The current roof has no felt or battens and will be replaced with felt, battens & Brazillian slate. I'm going to fit the facia, soffits & bargeboards myself while the scaffold is up. I'm unsure of the detail of finishing off at the verge. The current rag slates overhang by about 75mm and are fixed to a rafter running down the verge behind the existing bargeboard (the gable wall is 500mm thick stone) and as you can see from the photo there is no undercloak. Is it acceptable to run the new felt down the gable wall and fix the new upvc bargeboard over this or will I need to fit an undercloak before the new roof goes on?
