Hi all
I have a Veritas R8? (no keypad on the control box, battery was replaced last year) and two remote keypads ( 1 at the back door and 1 at the front door, all was working fine. The alarm mains is fed off the upstair lighting circuit, fused spur (not by me by the installer, the control box very difficult to get to in the loft!!!.
So I decided to turn the mains off completely while I did the final mains connection to an outside IP66 mains socket spurred on to the ring main (nowhere near the alarm or wiring) I have turned the mains off many times before with no problems to the alarm, just enter my code and reset.
This time I could not reset (put up with the noisy 3 mins) just did the mains connection and turned the mains back on.
The main problem could not silence/reset using the back door keypad and my user code (this normally does when I have had the mains off before), but I CAN use the front door keypads to silence/reset the system, the system function perfectly, sets, unsets, triggers, sounders (3) go off as normal USING the front door keypad.
I am sorry it a bit of a long explanation, but I have tried to give a full account.
So the final problem, since all the above the back door keypad buttons don't respond when pressed, keypad zone leds 3,5,6,7,8,unset and tamper are lit up permanently, even when the front door keypad is used to set the system. I suspect the keypad! but before I spend £45, has anybody got any suggestion as it was all working fine before turning the mains off. Thanks for any comments in advance.

Are you saying ….when you turned off the mains supply the bell rang outside ? If so battery is faulty OR battery fuse blown or battery charging circuit is faulty ( faulty control panel ) should be around 13.8 v dc

Thanks for the reply, I can't remember if the outside bells (2) sounded or not as its difficult to here them inside, sort of drowned out by the internal siren. I am not sure how a faulty battery or charge circuit would stop the second keypad "buttons" from working, can you explain please.
Also the system work faultless for about 5 years with an absolutely knackered battery, I only found out the battery was knackered because I disconnect the mains to replace some mains 13 amp sockets and there was no battery backup on the alarm it was dead instantly, hence the battery replacement last year and yes it was charging.

As per other post on the forum ….bad battery panel locked up …. not saying it is ….was asking the question as most posters don’t explain everything in detail ….

Any thoughts on why 1 RKP works and the other does not

Logged in? If you mean one keypad works yes a & one keypad does not

for example some panels allow you to log in for each keypad.

The Veritas from memory will only allow one keypad at a time to work.

So when you say one keypad doesn't work, my first question is have you logged out of the other keypad.

The other thing is the is a menu on the system which shows which keypad addresses are attached to the system. I will look it up as cant re4member off top of my head, dont do many Veritas and even less with multiple keypads although it can take 6.

Engineers code Prog 09 Prog, your looking for 2 leds illuminated between addresses 1-6 if only one shows then the panel can only see one keypad

Both key pads were working fine before tuning of the mains, now only one works the other is lit up buttons do not do any thing. Log in never had to login!

Total power down battery and mains and re boot control panel.
Possible that panel was stalled during power off due to Possible faulty battery as already mentioned.
If still faulty then wire keypad that is causing issue into control panel on temporary lead.
Also check dil switch settings on both keypads to check that they are not the same address. Screenshot_20230622-065339_Samsung Notes.jpg

maybe logged in isnt the best word, but if the keypad is engaged in activity with the panel the other keypad cant reach the panel.

your saying it doesnt work at all, so if you do the 09 thing can the panel see both keypads?

09 command will show say 1 and 2 if it can see keypads addressed 1 and 2 or 1 and 6 or a combination of 2 numbers based on the Keypad addresses. The only way it shouldnt show two addresses, is if two are the same address, a fault with a keypad or an issue with the cables.

you can take the keypad thats not working and connect directly to the panel and on a new cable see if it responds.

cables dont usually get moved unless your working on them or in the panel, or damaged when doing work in the house.

Sounds like the keypad is locked, something I haven't seen ever on a Veritas, however, if you remove the power to that keypad, ie remove the 12V connection and reconnect it does it reset itself (old on off). I would expect both keypads to not work if they were the same address and given they were working they cant change themselves.

Nothing has been change, address, wiring, damage ect. Just the mains power off and back on! Ho and also before I could arm with 1 RKP and disarm with the other and vice versa so how they are wired? See original post, some leds are lit I have checked when using the functioning RKP & nothing changes on none functioning RKP. If wired in parallel I would think logically they should both show the same leds, but before spending £45 I thought I get some expert advice. But it seems nobody has had a simulator problem. So I think I'll take a look at the RKP PCB and test any conponants, as it is obviously got power, signals as the system is fully functional of 1 RKP!!

Manuals are all over the net for free also register at texe.com and you should be able to download from the manufacturer
