Veritest VR2230 - Any good ?

Never heard of them, I personally like the Megger MFT1552 which costs a bit more.
 
Personally I would spend a little bit more and buy one of the better known MFTs, such as Megger, Fluke or Metrel.

I have heard nothing but bad reports about poo (kew) technik testers.

Martindale are a respectable make - it's probably a safer bet than something like this:



Nice to see though that provided they work (even if they lack the physical robustness or bells'n'whistles appreciated by professional electricians), testers are starting to get down to realistic prices for DIYers...

but some of their stuff looks familiar in the layout of controls etc - I wonder if they actually make items for some of the better known "makers"...
