We've just had an unvented water cylinder fitted and 2 new raditors added as part of a loft conversion. The day after the cylinder went in we got a loud vibrating noise coming from the trv's in other parts of the house. The vibrating sounds like a helicopter or hammer drill. If we turn (just a little bit) the trv that is making the noise, it stops. Sometimes a different trv starts doing the same thing some minutes later and it has since affected 4 different trv's throughout the house. This never happened before the pressurised cylinder went in, so we suspect it has something to do with that. The plumber (corgi registered) says it's nothing to do with him and won't offer to look at it or offer any advice saying that he is too busy!! It's been happening on a daily basis for some 4 weeks now. Any advice please - (apart from calling the plumber a *!?**!!?).

Your trv's are on the wrong way, water flow is hitting the jumper in the valve causing it to lift and vibrate. The valve might be bi-flow which means you could possibly reverse the flow through it, check the valve instructions.

It's because you have one direction trvs fitted on the wrong side of the radiator(s), either swap the rad vaves over or replace with a bi directional one. It's happening now because of the different pressure.
