Please advise,
My neighbour has a tee off his kitchen sink cold water supply that feeds a filtered water unit and he says that occasionally there is vibration on the pipe for no obvious reason, ie, the hot or cold water supply has not been used immediately before, during or after this occurs.
Any thoughts?
The house is relatively new so there are no ghosts about that we are aware of.
Thanks
Paul

I'n most cases this is because the pipes are not screwed and fixed to the wall correctly.

Adding a few extra fixings can help.

I think the technical name is hammering pipes. where they keep making loud noises.

It can also be caused by the difference in flow rates, where the filter tap has a smaller diameter pipe.

It might just be a natural vibrating frequency of the pipe with some unknown trigger. The same happens to overhead power lines. Try adding some additional supports.
