Victim of Crime

In an effort to be somewhat fitter, environmentally friendly & save money, I've been cycling to the station to get to work. Nothing unusual about that - approx 100 other people do the same.

Arrived at the station around 7.30pm last night to discover someone had nicked the lights off my bike. Why did they bother? Could not be worth more than a few £s second hand and they won't be able to use them, because if I see them on a bike left at the station...

In this want, want, want, society ... unfortunately the gotta have syndrom ... combined with no concept of right or wrong .. leads to theft and **** head behaviour .... ;)

Well, here is a short tale that may make you laugh. I went to our local *LDI shop to buy a shower (10.5 kw for £50, what a good deal). Anyway I arrived early to get my place in the queue, well you know what it's like when these stores have their bargain day. So I stood in the queue with all the pensioners waiting for the store to open. MY GOD when the doors opened the all legged in at superspeed and crowded around the showers, they then proceeded to grab and clutch 2 each!!! By the time I managed to get to the front, all the showers had been taken. To really top this off my trolley was stolen by somebody while I was attempting to get to the showers. No doubt some of the showers are still sitting in stair cupboards waiting to be fitted. I suppose the thief who nicked my trolley had a good laugh on the way home 'cos it had my pound coin in it. These wrinklies can't half move quickly when the occasion demands.

Over-zealous copper David. Mind you, that's what you get for shopping in Chorlton......Miaow!!

On the surface - over the top - But, if witnessed, there may have been that edge which we all know when we see it ... But even if that was the case, how can society change the mind set ? I am not sure it can be done through the normal 'punishment' or 'virtual slap on the backside' for parents ... If that dad was vicious, could not the penalty inflicted upon him manifest itself in his blaming the child, either openly or unspoken ?
The law was satisfied, but was the problem, if any, cured ?

Too right mate .. you were out of your normal habitat (as in A structure that affords a controlled environment for living in extremely inhospitable locations, such as the work place ) - you should be earning the shekels and hopefully paying the taxes - What a life during working hours with all the lunatics locked safely away for the day in their respective Asyla ... One can -normally- shop without queueing - take advantage of the special offers - drive on almost open roads, assuring the blockage of various lunatics venturing abroad, watch them fume in frustration at their own inability to plan their time sensibly- yep ! great life this retirement business ;)

I think there is a saying 'innocent until proven guilty' but in this case, the father appears to have been treated as guilty long before his trial. Why were such draconian bail conditions put on him? Without hearing all the facts, how did they make a decision that this was the best thing for all concerned? And if they did hear all the facts, what is the point of waiting another 6 months for a trial?

I know it is a free country and people can go where they like when they like (within reason), but why is it that when I nip into the supermarket to buy a sarnie at lunch it is full of our noble elders?

If I was retired or unemployed, I would get my shopping done in the morning rather than having to stand in a queue. Doesn't bother me as I will have to queue either way, its just that I think they could make better use of their time by popping in a couple of hours earlier or later. Not to mention they will have more freedom to browse instead of having to keep moving with the lunchtime crowd.

Perhaps this is the problem with being a logical sort, you see inefficiency and it puzzles you!

Sorry to stick this on the end of yours pip, I'm not calling you elderly!
