Good morning.

As part of a loft conversion, the internal faces of a mid terrace victorian property need to be decorated. The bricks and pointing are in good condition although some replacement pointing will be required. On one wall, there is part of the chimney stack.

Can these bricks be plastered and painted. And if so, how should the bricks be prepared and then plastered, and what preparation and plaster materials will be suitable?

Should the bricks be left fair faced to allow for moisture absorption / evaporation?

Thank you.

from your description i think i'd clean any soot from the wall if any, assuming you've removed the stack? otherwise skip this step.

float the walls using hardwall and skim with multi finish.
