We just received an old victorian radiator last week. For the past week my fiance has been trying to strip and and started wondering if there might be a leak anywhere. We have to pay someone to bring it in the house next week, and then pay a plumber to set it up. We were wondering if there were anyway to test the radiator outside. Also if there are any leaks is there a way to fix them? Like if it's from a crack in the body or something? Thanks

Can you put up a pic?

The ones we have over here are made of iron sections. There is a threaded rod running inside the top and the bottom to hold them together.

I've never done it but I believe it is possible to undo the nuts and take each section off, then you can re-make the joints with a new sealing compound and fasten the sections back together.

I should think it would be easier to get the paint off when they're apart too.
