vid cams

Don't know if I am in the right place for this but if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

I am using Skype to speak to friends in Canada, they can hear and see me, but I can only hear them, although I can see myself in a small box bottom left, when I go into "tools" "options""video settings" to test the webcam I get the message "webcam video capture failed"any ideas?
