Video capture

Probably works ok, the conversion chips inside costs pennies to manufacture. My mate bought a K-World branded one from Scan for about £20 that he's happy enough with, and he's a fussy git!

I use a TV card from Aldi but it requires the sound to be input through sound card and only video is through TV card. Is it worth using a unit which is limited? I would look at USB or Card able to combine functions. I kick myself for getting digital only TV on card.

I used a typhoon TV capture unit bought in Lidl. It was very good but some of the stuff taken from older VCR tapes was well out of sync. I find it you use a program such as VLC player on a PC you can set the audio to arrive earlier and it can really help to sync the stuff up better.

It depends how much power your PC has. The encoding for the USB captures are done in software.

I bought a Diamond VC500 USB and it worked, but doing anything else while it was recording caused problems. I picked up an old analog Hauppague WinTV card on Ebay and I like it better.
