Planning to re-tile some stairs with new tiles. Just taken the nosing off and the old tiles using a heat gun. Everything looking good.
1. The landing has flooring which has been butted up together, but there is a gap of about 3mm between these butted edges. The orginal person who laid the floor from new (its been there for about 40 yeasr) used a flexible gap filler like you'd use in a kitchen - is this the best thing to use?
2. I plan to use diluted PVA on all floor surfaced before laying the tiles. Is this sufficient and should I lay the tiles as soon as it is touch dry, leave longer, or lay when tacky?
3. Should I put anything else on the floor to assist adhesion?
4. The nosings need to be replaced. What glue should I use to ensure a good fixing for the nosings?
Any good advice with links ot suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I am painting the stairs skirting today and conducitng the laying of the tiles in a couple of days
Thank you.
