virgin v+ box sound problem

we have had v+ installed 2 weeks ago xl package, last 3 nights whatever channel we watch the sound does from normal pitch to very low then back to normal volume, we have 5.1 samsung tv surround sound,brill when it works but starting to annoy us. spoke to virgin an they say tv not box. put tv on built in freeview no problem,as far as we know dvd normal sound ok hdmi cable,scart and optical lead ok thanks for any info
