My 05 Vivaro is in for a No 1 injector replacement for the fourth time this year !
Had all injectors replaced in Jan then 200 miles later, No1 failed, replaced under guarantee, then another 250 miles later, No1 failed again, fixed under guarantee, now today No 1 has failed yet again....
Found that removing wiring to injector allows engine to run on 3 cylinders, enough to get back to garage, but when replacing wiring again, kills the engine; take it off, engine runs again.
Is there any link to a weep of fuel from around the injector body.
Diagnostics show no fault at new fitting, and it runs absolutely fine, then just dies after 200 or so miles.
any advice would be welcome, my tame garage manager is getting a bit frustrated
cheers

Izuzu diesel? They have loads of injector and loom problems on these.....I look after one (2002 Trooper) thats had 5 complete sets, so maybe yours is the same? Keep sending it back.

Excellent point John, I couldn't get my head around this one.

But, your point about the wiring harness to No 1 injector is a good one.

Would it be the disturbance of working on the injector that causes a temporary fix?

All 4 fail on the Izuzu at the same time?

The local Izuzu dealer up here is doing these things all the time.....for sure, I don't know whats actually wrong with the injector (its probably solenoid dwell time I think) but the wiring loom leading to them is replaced too.
My own opinion is that the loom is in one hell of a hostile environment (very high temperatures and vibration etc) and as the injector opening pressure is actually provided by the engine oil pressure, the two just don't get on very well.
