Vokera Compact 24 failing to ignite

Vokera Compact 24 fails to ignite. This happening more and more frequently.

The boiler goes through the start up sequence, fails to ignite and stops. The red led is lit. Power cycle the unit and it starts properly. This occurs for both heating or hot water.

What is failing?

There is a gas hob No problems
The gas is valve is OPEN

When the boiler fails to ignite the led changes to RED.

After cycling the power after a failed start, the boiler usually operates. However after a period of inactivity (one to three hours) the boiler will often fail to start.

When the led is RED it is solid.

The boiler fails to ignite after a period of inactivity.
Today it failed first thing in the morning when there was demand for hot water and later on throughout the day it has failed three times but not every time there was heat or hot water deand.

there is a diy fix and there is RGI territory.....

the diy fix, replace both thermistors

parts will cost less than £15, and if it doesnt do the trick, you will have to get in an RGI as the fault would lie in combustion chamber and gas critical parts

The dhw sensor shows an amber light when faulty or when its on its way out. The primary sensor shows a red light. For a standard efficiency compact boiler this seems to be a constant problem.

Unfortunatly a red light can be a mean a lot of differant faults on this boiler, as it does not give exact fault codes, as in compare to say a vokera linea, it doesnt point you in much direction.

A little tip, if the ntc sensor itself has a blue or white tip on it, more than likely blue in this case, i would strongly advise of replacement to red tip as they are a lot more sturdy and have a longer lifespan.

These can be a real pain.

I have to sort out one of these which gives intermittent lockouts.

It hardly happened at all during the summer but now the heating is being used it locks out every day or two.

I have checked everything that I can check and substituted the sensors, o/h stat, APS etc. but to no avail.

It all pointed to the PCB but after a summer of perfect operation thats seems unlikely!

The 3-4 li/min of DHW has now been improved by a new water supply pipe and thats no longer a potential problem yet it still locks out!

Never change the aps on vokera, ive been working on compacts/linea for 2 years now changed one aps in that space of time, never changed overheat stat.

could be a sticky governor on the gas meter.
