Hi all,
I have a Vokera Excel 80 combi boiler which is giving me a little jip with the hot water. Anyhow, its well overdue a service as well so can anyone recommend a good (reasonably priced!) Vokera specialist in the Leeds (UK) area to give it the once over? Preferably one who can give me a gas safety certificate for the house for landord purposes (theres only a gas hob in addition to the boiler) Any ideas what I should expect to pay for such a service and certificate?
I estimate the boiler is 6-7 years old - but I only bought the house a couple of years ago so I've no idea of its service history (suspect none!). Aprroximately a year ago I did however replace the diaphrams as the domestic diaphram failed to expand upon requesting hot water. This has been fine until recently when I suspect another fault has developed.
Lately if the central heating is switched off, hot water only arrives after 10 minutes of running the hot tap - during which the radiators also get hot despite being switched off. If the central heating is switched on, the hot water seems to behave normally. Whats the most likely cause?
Given the boilers age is it worth repairing or should I consider replacing it with something more energy efficient. My last gas bill came in at 220 quid for the winter quater (victorian 3 storey 4 bed terrace heated 8 hours a day, 3 occupants showering daily, occaisional baths, gas hobs) Does that seem a little high?
Thanks all
