Hi,

We have just had a downstairs radiator removed and replaced following some plastering work.

I refilled and bled the system and the boiler seems to do the following on heating or hot water:

Fan starts
Burners ignite and start heating
Then it seems that the pump tries to start
A lot of gurgling and banging
The temp readout gets up to 80-90 during this process.
The boiler stops and gives an error code.
02 or 07 depending on water or heating I seem to recall.

I've tried undoing the screw on the pump to bleed it.
I've also depressed the auto bleed valve on the pump which let a bit of air out then solid water.
I also mistakenly pressed the valve on top of the expansion vessel. This let out a little bit of water and then nothing. I understand water is a bad thing!

Any ideas please?

I was thinking of draining the system, attaching a footpump to the expansion vessel and inflating to 12psi then refilling and bleeding the system. Perhaps also check if the pump is free?

Thanks in advance for any help.

pump should be running before fan.

pump up the vessel and check if the pump is spinning.

Hmmm. Maybe the banging is the water getting too hot because it isnt circulating?

It all seems a bit strange just because a radiator has been removed.

if its overheating you can bet its due to water not circulating :p

all you need to do now is find out why. :)
