I need some help solving a problem with our Vokera Maxin 28E. We have been in our house for nearly three years and the boiler has never been right. It was about 18 months old when we moved in, but basically the large red light on the front of the boiler keeps coming on and shutting the boiler off when both the hot water and central heating are used. When the central heating first comes on it lasts for about 5 - 10 minutes, after that, when you press the red button to fire the boiler up again it may last a minute or two. When you turn the hot tap on, the boiler last about 20 seconds before the boiler cuts out. Over the course of the last three years we have had numerous gas engineers out who have replaced the :
the element (all furred-up)
refitted the descaler capsule
Adjusted the water pressure
I live in Newbury and we have very hard water. We have recently cleaned out the radiators and added Fernox to the system, but the house may be going on the market in June and we need to get the CH and hot water sorted by then. Would a water softener help in the long run with the boiler problems?
Any suggestions would be gratefully received as Vokera themselves have been little help in solving this problem, even when using their engineers in this area.
