When running hot water (dhw) and with central heating off I am getting hot water "bleed" into the central heating system which is obviously reduceing the efficiency of the dhw supply. Have just replaced all diaphrams/o rings/seals etc ref hydraulic assembly repair kit thinking this would resolve the problem but to no avail. I'm getting hot water and the boiler fires up OK. Any suggestions/advice greatfully recieved.

The problem is going to be the dv stuck and letting by to the ch circuit.

Get hold of an excel service kit & refurb diverter valve (bottom lhs @ rear) drain htg remove fulcrum arm remove head to get access. Change bobbin & use both washers, the flat one goes on the bottom the o ring half way up. Also clean any deposits from seat, renew pump flow switch diaphragm, change front seal, clean spindle & apply silicon grease

They changed the design of the shuttle and rubber in the diverting section. If you put the old rubber car tyre shaped ring on a new shuttle it wouldn't work properly. Did you have a washer left over? ;)

Thanks for responses, comment to ChrisR, yes, but not the one your thinking off, had O ring left over but no obvious location for it. Fitted the flat rubber washer onto the top of the new plastic/nylon bobbin and yes checked that had got a good seal surface with internal brass body. Cleaned all spindles with fine emery to clear buildup on shaft.

I've temporaily resolved it by closing the main incoming chw return valve thus stopping any flow around the ch system, this is only astop gap and summers on the way.

be prepared to change that soon as well......they pretty much always leak if you use them.

As i posted earlier the o ring site in a groove half way up the bobbin if you haven't fitted it that is why it is still passing

weareleeds - Aha, there wasn't an o-ring on the old one I took out and I didn't spot the slight recess groove for it to sit in. Many thanks.
