VW Polo Headlamp Bulbs.

I own a 03 VW Polo 1.4 Diesel. The offside headlamp bulb needs replacing. No problem on any other I've owned. Problem with the Polo is the fuel filter housing is right behind the headlamp back panel. So I'm unable to get access to the duff bulb.
Any VW experts out there tell me how I go about replacing the bulb? Is it easier to remove the headlamp unit from the front of the vehicle? Or is it easier to remove the fuel filter housing?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I am not sure on your exact model, but in general it is usually easier to remove the fuel filter. Headlights are often a pig to take out as it often involves removing the front bumper and other trim pieces to get at all the screw.
