Hi,

I am getting a walk in shower. The space is 1550mm and will do one 80mm wide. Perfect solution would be stone resin tray at 1550 with drying area.

Looking at a 1000 Merlyn 10mm shower wall. Reading then that is as far as I could go. Was thinking 1100 but ready you need 500 at least for opening. Don’t want a hinged panel.

But then the tray, can’t find a stone resin tray with drying area at 1550. Closest is 1400 or 1600. And stone resin tray best fit is 1500mm. Installer has offered to build a 50mm deep wall for the shower so the 1500 fits. This will make the concealed Grohe shower easy too.

Just wanted to check if anyone has a better solution? At the moment it is the 50mm wall (stud and marine ply with tiling). Then 1500 tray without drying area.

The tiles in the bathroom with be 300 x 600 installed horizontally.

Would suggest using a smaller tray and building the wall out as you mention above. Make sure you have the tray and measure it before the wall is constructed, the measurements aren’t always correct.

Have a look at elements tile backer board rather than marine ply
