I have a 4' high two course perimeter wall, the top row being a single row, side on. Some of the top row have cracked and I'm considering making my own 1" high, maybe 2' long capping blocks to sit on the wall.

What would be a suitable mortar mix to make the blocks with?

Is it really worth the hassle. I would have thought you would need rebar as well as concrete.

It’d probably not look great either, but if you did want to do it probably something like a 3:3:1 sharp sand some kind of small aggregate and cement. You’d need to make a decent formwork for it, and get air bubbles out etc. can’t think why you’d want to do it tbh

Logistics/time/effort/vibrating it etc aside I think there's been a few threads on this over the years, melamine lined with a bit of cooking oil would be good to use as a mould.

So the solution is to replace the top row of bricks I presume?
