Hey folks, had a garden wall rendered and nice sandstone coping placed along the top. When it rains, there are run off points where the mortar is between the coping and also at points where the natural stone creates low points where water will run. This is leaving water marks down the render.

I’m sure I saw someone suggest a drip bar for this sort of thing ages ago and wondered what material you’d recommend. The lip of stone is only about 10-15mm and I’d like to keep the bar subtle. Had initially thought of lead or zinc cut and bent but I’m guessing the water would pick up the metals and stain worse over time if it still managed to get onto the render.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

You can grind in a narrow groove on the underside of the copings, doesn't have to be deep so around 5mmm is enough, and it will stop the water travelling back to the wall or alternatively a thin bead of silicone 10 - 20mm in from the edge on the underside of the copings would do the same thing.
