Hi All,

Sorry not sure if im posting in the right area of the forum.

I'm trying to fit kitchen wall units. The units have a plastic adjustable clip and a metal strip that goes on the wall.

The problem is the house is an old 1830s victorian. The wall im trying to hang these on is about 35-40mm rather crumbly plaster not to bad that i had re skimmed. Under this a mix of granite and rumble i guess making the rest of the wall.

Is there any way i can get these to stay on the wall i tried installing a oven hood extractor and it almost landed on my head.

Thanks in Advance

Dave

Anyone? Please.

Ive heard some one mention battons not sure how that works?

Should i just try drill into the Granite rocks?

Thanks

Dave

best bet is to drill into the solid structure, you may need an sds drill for that with some longer drill bits, and some good longer screws to suit

Thanks,

i bought a masonry drill bit today and tried drilling in but it didn't even dent the rock. Is an sds drill like a hammer drill?

I was thinking of getting someone to fit them, might be cheaper then buying the gear and less time consuming

can I ask why you would want to install a new kitchen on an old crumbly wall? Personally I would rather put up with the old, save some cash and get a plasterer in!

Well unfortunately i didnt know or didnt think the wall was too bad.

Its the old walls that have horse hair to bind them,

I know i should of probably knocked out the whole wall but ive already got it skimmed over and painted.

I mean how can you tell if a wall is completely shot , should the plaster not crumble at all?

Thanks Dave
