Hey guys,

Been refitting my bathroom and founds the bath spout poorly secured behind the false wall that sits inside the window recess.

However, now I've secured the pipework and boarded with 12.5mm plasterboard and tiles with 9mm ceramic tiles; there is very little thread for me to grab on to with the nut and I'm not sure what I can *get away with*

I've given myself access through the top of the false wall (it's not tiled yet so I could secure everything in place and water test before tiling it in)

Basically the thread of the spout touches the copper pipe perfectly for me to secure the nut. However, when I put the flanged backnut and washer on the thread it only leaves about 3mm of thread of the spout.

I thought about leaving the washer off, but also whether or not you can get slightly lower profile backnuts or are they standardised in their depth?

If the the internal female fitting is fully secure e.g. a fixed backplate elbow then I'd omit the backnut.

I'll grab a picture now, but yes I've secured the pipework it isn't going anywhere.

Unfortunately the fitter I employed basically made all the pipework out of leftovers (or is a moron). Its a complete ****ing mess but its servicable!
