i recently removed asheet of hardboard from my kitchen wall , this was nailed to battens would it be better to replace with plywood as i worry about hardboard warping , i know this is not the correct way to replace a surface but i cant plaster

What was the purpose of this piece of board? Why not use plasterboard and paint over. No need to skim if you use the prefinished side.
 
or if you`re really keen and it`s a large area..use tapered edge p/board and tape+fill joints :idea: That`s all you get for your £300k new house today :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:
 
Thanks for the advice , sounds the best way forward , he piece of hardboard was covering a small wall of filthy old brick
once again thans , i never knew plasterboard could be painted over , do i have toprepare it in any way or can i just go ahead and emulsion it ??
one more lads , i bought 3 tubes of EVO GRIP , trouble is thegoddam stuff goes off within seconds, has anyone used this product with any success ???

Plasterboard generally has two sides, one for platering on and the other has a finish paper that will take paint, Just apply an undercoat and emulsion as usual. If you are unsure which is which, check with your supplier.

Never heard of or used Evo Grip.
 
Sorry to be pedantic but p/board is now recommended to be pastered and decorated on the one side Knauf what I mean ;)
