Hi.
I have fitted sliding wardrobe doors to my son's bedroom. The doors run from one wall and stop 3 foot short of the wall at the other side of the room. I need to make a wall to close off the wardrobe . I am going to make the 3 foot left over area a study area and either put a desk in there or build a shelf / desk.

I was going to make a stud partition for the end wardrobe wall but then wondered if I could just make the wall out of a sheet of 18mm ply. This in my mind would be so much easier and negate the need to build the stud wall and sheet both sides etc. Would also save me 3 - 4 inches probably.

What do you think ? Completely ridiculous or maybe OK ?

I would use either a material matching the wardrobe doors, or the same material you are going to use for the study area desk/shelves. MDF perhaps? Or laminated furniture panels? Or pine/other wood panel?

Mdf is more suitable as it paints up like a smooth wall, unlike ply which will always look like timber painted.
