I have been working with a stomemason on some work around my Victorian House. He has given me some mixes used for lime mortar pointing and lime plastering.
All of these mixes involve the use of washed sand, either washed building sand or washed plastering sand or a combination of the two.
Washed sand seems to be unavailable from the usual building supplies outlets but is available on the net. Trouble is it is only available in large quantities (1 tonne upwards).
The quantities I need are quite small so my question is this:
Does anyone know how to wash sand? I'm pretty sure its not as simple as putting a hose on it, (though I suppose it might be).
Any ideas?
Cheers guys
