Washer won\\\'t fill

1982 Montgomery Ward (made by Whirlpool I think) won't fill with water. Spin works. Any suggestions?

First check the obvious - is the incoming supply turned on? If so, do you have 230 volts on the feed solenoid, if so, do you have a resistance accross the solenoid coil - (when powered down)? Often if the solenoid is functional but there is a lack of water supply, there is an obvious hum from the energised coil.

with all due respect, i suggest you take your own advice

First check the obvious .

The poster is in America, so it is highly unlikely to

have 230 volts on the feed solenoidl.

I also suggest you note this although i do gree with your initial diagnosis, even if you have the voltage wrong
