My Miele washing machine is so unbalanced (bit like myself really).

I've tried and tried to sort it - when I put a spirit level on it, it's perfect but as soon as it starts spinning, it's bouncing all over the place.

It's on a suspended timber floor, which I realise isn't ideal.

If I was to put a sheet of 18mm ply under it, is that likely to help? Would it have to be screwed to the floor or just having the machine on it enough?

If it's level and all four legs are in contact with the floor, that is all you can do.

If it is still 'bouncing all over the place' after that when spinning, either the concrete weights inside are loose, the suspension is damaged, or some incompetent installer forgot to remove the transit bolts.

It's not the transit bolts - I've had it about 8 years or so. I just wondered if the wooden floor wasn't helping much - too much spring or something. It's perfect when there's no washing in it lol

Its normally the 4 feet on each corner need adjusting. Rock the washing machine while its off and if its rocking then the feet will need adjusting.

How old is your machine?
How full are the loads?
Larger loads tend to be easier for the machine to balance than smaller ones

I think the machine is about 8 or 9 years old. It is full loads I'm doing. It looks like the feet are uneven when it's spinning but I have evened them all up and according to spirit level, it's level. That was why I wondered if it was too much flex in the floor.

It could be worth taking the top of the machine, and checking that the large springs that hold the drum are still in one piece......unless the machine has always been like this!
John :)

If there is more drum movement (Left & Right) than previously, then the shocks may need to be replaced.

What is the model number?
