washing machine connection

the delivery man of my washing machine showed me how to connect it.
but i can only get the cold water to go into the washer.
i,m happy that the washer is connected properly .
i get hot water in the sink above,the taps to the hot and cold (under the sink) are both open
but i still cant get any hot water
am i missing something very basic or do i have to call a plumber out to look at it

kinked / bent hose
tap blocked

turn hot tap off remove hot pipe from m/c put in bucket turn it on any water?
