washing machine door problem

The hinge on my w/m door broke so i replaced with a new one.
how ever when i removed the 2 screws on the washer that the bracket screws to,i heard the bracket inside the washer fall off inside the machine
how do i retrieve the said retaining bracket.wtf could they not have it welded to the machine

General info

Remove the front door seal retainer, unclip the front edge of the door seal and reach in to pick the back plate up, then hold it while you fit the new hinge.
