We have been having trouble with a sewer smell coming back into the laudry room. Last week I did two loads of wash and that evening the wind was blowing and all of a suddent we had a sewer gas smell. We immediately put water in the drain trap and the smell quickly left.

I met a plumber the other day and he told me to put in an extra trap. He said they do it all the time. If the first trap dries out usally there is still water in the second trap.
Have you heard of this? If so could you explain how to go about doing this? :(

I would like to know if the waste pipe that the flexible pipe from the wm goes into should have a u bend on the end of it to prevent smells coming back up through the pipe. Every time we use the m/c the smell is terrible all over the kitchen. I dont have a u bend on the outlet pipe. please help ......

Yes. The whole point of having a U-bend is to prevent unwanted smells from coming back. All waste pipes should a trap somewhere along the line.
