Hi.
We've had the washing machine for about 3-4 years now but today I noticed a HUGE amount of steam coming out of the draw during a 60c wash. (I am a carer for somebody and their incontinence beddinf needs to be washed at 60) I went to touch it and burnt myself. The draw cover then fell off (melted). (See pics).
It seems to be washing okay. I am a full-time caterer for a family member and don't have the money for a new one/repair man. I am 'handy' and can replace parts myself. I've googled about and some ppl say it's a thermostat problem while others say "Just bin it as it would cost too much in parts to repair".
Does this sound like a thermostat problem? Thank you.

It does sound like a thermostat problem, as the machine is now boiling the water!
You’ll have to access the entire drum to replace it, you should get a new part from espares but in the mean time best not to use the washer.
I guess it all depends on how much time you have to spare.
Good luck with it and bless you for what you do.....I’ve been down that road.

That sounds like an extreme safety problem, try using google to see if there has been a product recall on your make and model if there is it will be repaired for free. If not try the manufacturers and ask their opinion.

Thank you. It's really not easy is it? and this has just made it worse -_- Thank you for your kind words. I think ill pick up a part, for it and see what happens.

I would replace the machine myself. Better to be safe than sorry...

I would hope to get a few years more out of this machine........my own philosophy is to have the machine repaired once and that's it.
See if any repairers can do you a cost price repair with some sort of warranty? Some of the digital machines have issues which aren't logical at all.
It's curious that the engineers always seem to recommend you buy the most basic machine you can!
I hope you get it sorted real soon.
John :)
