I wonder if anyone can help me with a washing machine problem -I've just bought a new flat and am attempting to plumb in my washing machine - unfortunately the wastepipe is horizontal jutting out from the edge of fitted unit - when the wastepipe from the washing machine is married to this it naturally blows out through pressure - resulting in a flooded kitchen! Does anyone know how to resolve this?

you need to fit a standpipe to the waste pipe from the unit.
You need to break into the waste pipe and fit a standpipe for your WM hose.
You should have a crutch shaped plastic "extra" which your hose fits around. Make sure this is fitted just above the standpipe which will solve your problem.
