I have a space next to a downstairs cloakroom that I would like to use to install a washing machine in.

I already have the water supply sorted but need a place to drain the washing machine to. I have found a 90 deg pan connector with a 40mm boss on that should be a straightforward replacement for the current pan connector (which leaks at the moment anyway...).

From reading around I realise I need to install some sort of air valve so the suction from flushing the toilet does not empty any trap I might be using.

I am not good with these things so was wondering if someone could let me know what I need between the washing machine hose and the 40mm boss on the pan connector to make everything work correctly. I assume that this is ok to do?

Thanks

Matt

just use a washing machine stand pipe and 40mm pipe

if the soil pipe is vented close it wont syphon the trap

if it does syphon the trap you could use one of these

http://www.pulsardirect.co.uk/installation/plastic/40mm-anti-syphon-valve.html

anywhere after the stand pipe and before the pan con , terminating vertically above the height of the stand pipe . but i really doubt you will need it

also , the stand pipe should terminate above the height of the drum in your washer
