What do you think, Regarding the preferred location of the washing machine, 3m away from outside all and the waste pipe:
The scheme is to clip machine hose to 22mm rigid overflow pipe for upstand, which passes down and along with its gentle slope to, and through the outside wall and discharges into kitchen soil waste trap. That means it misses the sink U-bend and it's waste pipe.
Reason for this scheme are:
- to get a neat, slim projection of pipes behind kitchen base units, including cooker etc
- there's a a waiting 22mm hole through the wall already,
- it'll save the mess of joints on sink traps on an undermount sink....
- which is, fairly close to the outside wall anyway.
The kitchen re-fit is about to be finished with all new plumbing, before bases units go in.
I have tried the machine directly onto a lengths of 22mm copper, roughly in place and the pump doesn't seem to mind the distance and bore, and chucks out the waste, lovely.
Problems may be:
- freezing ,due to the size... perhaps.
- 3m at this 22mm bore may strain the pump, though note availability of waste hose 22mm bore extensions
- long pipe may furr up easily, and it would be plumbed in behind cabinets.
Is there a significant advantage in a larger bore pipe?
Cheers, for your succinct comment.
