Have a Candy washing machine that stopped working mid cycle. Took the top off to see if there was anything obvious wrong and I could see a couple of things. There is some cellophane or plastic covering part of the innards and this has some scorch marks and looks as if it has burnt/melted in a couple of places Also, I can see a wire has come loose. Can this be repaired and is it worth the cost of getting someone out?

That looks like the wire has come out of the internal connector (which I am assuming is a spade connector covered with a plastic cover) You can remedy this easily but you need to make sure the appliance is unplugged and no power is coming through the machine first. Also, I am unaware whether there could be a capacitor which could discharge so might well be worth asking in ELECTRICS first.

AFAIK, once safe, you can pull off the connector and re-crimp the bare end of the wire into the end of the (spade) connector then refit.

Where has it burned/melted? Cannot see any pics of that. Would be worth getting advice on that issue first as there may be a bigger problem than just the loose wire.

As I said, may be worth posting this in ELECTRICS before carrying out any remedial work with the electrical bits.

Thanks for the quick reply. The scorching of the plastic cover was directly above where this wire was loose. It does look to be a spade connector. I can get the plastic shroud off with the spade connector but can't seem to get the spade connector out of the shroud. I thought it would just pull out but doesn't seem to want to come out. There is a slight scorch mark elsewhere so I will do as you say and post in electrics.
