Our washing machine has had a problem for a while:-

whenever we run it, there is a disgusting egg smell that comes out of the sink near/at the start and end of the cycle. We can't seen to get rid of this at all.

In addition to this, in the last week our washing has started to smell really damp when it comes out the machine. We bought a Service It kit:-

and this seems to have helped with the smell of the washing, but it hasn't stopped the smell coming out of the sink.

Any ideas?

To clean the washing machine and waste pipe, what you need to do is run the machine on it's HOTTEST wash full cycle with noting in it.

So turn the machine onto 90 degrees and turn dial to program A and let it run full cycle. Nothing in the machine or in the powder draw.

Also clean out the over for the sink, that is where the smell is coming from.

Thanks for the reply.

What is the "over" for the sink?

The overflow is in the top edge of the sink, when you fill the sink up with water, this is the part which 'overflows' into the waste pipe which stops your sink from overflowing onto your kitchen floor.

Take apart the overflow pipework and clean out, then refit together, then squirt some bleach into the overflow.
