Washing machine spinning too fast

Can anyone help me with this please? Our four year old Servis M3010 washing machine has started playing up this weekend.

During the wash cycle the machine should turn slowly in one direction and then the other to agitate the clothes. However it has started turning at the spin speed - some 1000rpm - during the wash cycle. This occurs with a full or part load so I dont think that incorrect loading is the problem.

Everything else seems okay as the machine does the full wash cycle, clicks from one program to the next and does the final spin at the correct speed.

Any help would be much appreciated.

My candy cmd 146 has the same problem, so would it be the spin control magnet causing the problem as mine as well...???

It is either a motor tacho fault or the speed regulation circuit on the pcb is defective. If you are lucky the problem lies in the tacho or associated wiring. Remove the motor & check the tacho resistance. Check the shaft magnet is in place & tight on the shaft. Then inspect/measure the tacho wiring from the motor plug back to the pcb for breaks.

First of all, Apologies to the Moderator, for not obeying the forum rules here. Very sorry, I read the rules now, so hopefully we can all get along


Thanks to Zipper, I think I have found the problem, the shaft magnet was not on the shaft. I tightened it up, and re-installed the motor. Running a wash cycle now as I type, but there is a slight noise now from the shaft magnet, that was not there before.

When I removed the motor, I spun the shaft by hand, and no noise was heard, bearings felt ok, and all looked ok inside when I disasembled it, apart from the loose magnet, and the brushes had plenty of life left in them as I expected. Machine was lying idle for 2 years, so not much mileage on these brushes etc!!! Lol

However, when I re-asembled the motor I spun the shaft again, and I could hear a slight 'rattling sound' as I spun it. Kinda like a metallic sound. I shook the motor gently in my hand, but heard nothing. Spun the shaft and could hear the noise again.

Any ideas what this could be????

Tacho body out of position? Something the magnet has picked up (washer etc)? Make sure nothing fell in the motor
